Hibs have announced an official link-up with new League 1 side FC Edinburgh - the former Edinburgh City.

The deal will see a number of East Road youngsters sent out on loan for experience.

It'll last the span of five years.

That'll start with centre-back Jack Brydon - who spent last season with the club.

An annual friendly between the two clubs will also be arranged.

Another massive outcome from the agreement is that Hibs Women will play and train out of the new Meadowbank Stadium.

The ÂŁ47 Million sports leisure facility - which includes a football ground - will open next week.

Edinburgh's first game will be held there this weekend.

"I think it's a great tie-up for the club" said FC Edinburgh Chairman Jim Brown.

He continued: "I think we've shown in the past that with Hibs we've had players on loan, sometimes two or three players on loan.

"And it's been a win situation for both clubs.

"I think Ryan Porteous or Josh (Campbell), Sean Mackie who came back and Sean's still playing at a high level.

"I think on the women's side of things coming together is brilliant as well.

"We're investing quite a lot of time and money in our women's team going forward now that we've got back to Meadowbank.

"So I think on a Sunday, it's going to be great for our women's football teams. It's like a festival of football, two games on a Sunday afternoon two local teams."

On his loan move Brydon said:

"I think it's just because of my age you can get as much experience as you want training with the first team, getting a game here and there, but I think especially with some experienced pros, the league we're in now, the top professionals that have dropped down I think very, very beneficial to me, it's been a no brainer."

Brydon will have the opportunity to continue training with Hibs throughout the week, which he tell us is a benefit of being loaned to a Semi-Professional club.

"I've known the guys for six months now, it's kind of on my doorstep - going into Hibs and training with the likes of Ryan Porteous, Darren McGregor, Paul Hanlon, learning off Dave Gray and the new manager, it's going to be very beneficial for me getting the best of both worlds."
