Jordan White's fourth goal in five games gave Livingston a half-time lead but Hibs were the more proactive side throughout and finally struck back, Anthony Stokes and Martin Boyle on target in four second-half minutes.
John McGinn, Jason Cummings and Farid El Alagui all threated for Hibs in the first 20 minutes but it was Livi who took the lead through White, following up after Osman Kakay's shot was blocked.
Visiting keeper Marc McCallum saved from Cummings and Stokes before Hibs lost El Alagui to injury, James Keatings taking his place. The substitute saw one free-kick saved early in the second half and sent another over the bar before also heading wide.
Hibs' equaliser finally came when Stokes, moments after steering David Gray's cross wide from close range, levelled the scores with a neat 12-yard finish.
And just three minutes later, Boyle let fly with a fierce right-footed effort to give the hosts a deserved - if futile - win.
