Hibs' appeal against Porteous red card for Aribo tackle thrown out

Hibernian's appeal against Ryan Porteous' red card against Rangers has been unsuccessful.

The defender was sent off by for a tackle on Joe Aribo at Ibrox on Sunday.

Hibs confirmed on Monday that they would be challenging it.

But the SFA's disciplinary panel has upheld referee Nick Walsh's decision.

Porteous will now miss their upcoming games against Dundee Utd & Aberdeen.

Hibs manager Jack Ross said after the match: "I think Ryan gives him a decision to make. I don't necessarily agree with the decision but I can understand why it's given.''

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard, meanwhile, described it as "a wild tackle''.
