Hearts knock back fresh Rangers approach for John Souttar
The Ibrox side are hoping to get the defender in before the January deadline
Hearts have knocked back a fresh approach from Rangers for defender John Souttar.
The Scotland international has signed a pre-contract to move to Ibrox in the summer.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst is keen to bring the 25-year old in before Monday's midnight deadline but have been dealt a blow in their latest attempt.
A second bid to bring him in immediately has been knocked back.
Rangers could still go back in with another improved offer but Hearts could be reluctant to let him go with not much time left in the window.
Speaking on Monday afternoon before the approach, Hearts boss Robbie Neilson said: “We’re actively looking to see what’s out there in the market.
“We’ve said all along it has to be the right one that comes in. There’s no panic here because we’ve got other good defenders here but first and foremost I’d like to keep John if we can.”
