Hearts Women have kicked off their Semi-Professional era by signing their first ever player to a paid deal.

Defender Emma Brownlie joins the Jambos from SWPL 1 Champions Rangers.

The 28-year-old started her career with Hibs across the Capital, she's also turned out for Celtic and Everton.

Most recently though she was part of the Rangers side as they won this season's league title in an undefeated campaign.

Upon expiry of her contract at the Gers in July she will sign with Hearts, initially on a one year deal with the option of a extending it.

Last season Hearts finished 8th in the 10 team SWPL 1, they'll be looking to push on from that in the coming year as they invest more money into the side.
