Hearts coach Jon Daly "learning on a daily basis"

He joined the Jambos in January

Hearts coach Jon Daly is poised for his first cup final months into his job - but he admits his new role was more complicated than he first imagined.

The former Rangers and Dundee United striker left a playing role with Raith Rovers to take charge of the Hearts under-20s in January.

And on Wednesday, Daly will lead his team into the Scottish Youth Cup final against Motherwell at Hampden.

The 33-year-old said: I'm learning on a daily basis. There's a lot more to it than I probably expected.

As a player, you don't really look at what the coaches do. As a player you look out for yourself and make sure you are right for match day. As a coach, I have to make sure all the boys are ready.

Hopefully all that work will pay off on Wednesday night.''
