"If I played my gran this weekend she might get a wee kick" allegiances no problem for Halliday

Andy Halliday might be an ex Rangers player, and his family might not be best pleased if he beats them on Saturday, but the midfielder says that won't stop him giving is all to win the Scottish Cup.

The Hearts utility man insists his competitiveness on the pitch takes over.

Asked if it's a strange situation for him Halliday said:

"No, not at all.

"I've been very competitive since I was four years old. Probably since I started kicking a ball. If I played my grand this weekend, she might get a wee kick kick

"I think the only difference will be if we win at the weekend I might have a few family members and friends that don't talk to me for a while, but I won't be bothered if I've got a Scottish Cup winners medal in my pocket."

There's another massive final for the Jambo's opposition before they get to Hampden, as Rangers battle Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League final.

Halliday's focus remains on Saturday, but he does wish his ex teammates all the best:

"I hope my ex teammates and the football club can go and get a European trophy under their belt on Wednesday, because I mean that would be obviously fantastic."

For Haliday it's been a successful season not just for the team, but on a personal level.

"I think I showed a lot of consistency this season, which was probably something that you could label against me last year that I think myself and a few boys didn't quite performance certain levels in certain games."

Although Haliday, who has played in all but one outfield position, has accepted he probably won't get the chance to play up front in the final, to make it ten out of ten, saying:

"I was chomping at the bit to try and get a wee 10 minutes at a striker role somewhere this season, because that would mean I'd played all ten outfield positions in the one season.

"Good thing to say at the end of your career, that you've played all positions in a season, but I can't see me playing striker at the weekend, that's for sure."
