Fresh appeal over firebomb attack on Edinburgh mosque

Three women and a man where seen arguing with the suspect shortly beforehand.

Police want to speak to three women and a man who got into an argument with a man, believed to be same person who went on to firebomb Edinburgh's Central Mosque.

The group are all believed to have an Asian appearance.

The row broke out at around 2am on George Square and just ten minutes later a lit bottle was thrown at the door of the mosque on nearby Potterrow.

The suspect is described as a white man in his late twenties, around 5ft 10" in height, has a medium build and a shaved head.

He was wearing a dark checked shirt and black t-shirt with white writing underneath.

Detective Inspector Grant Johnston said: "We are eager to trace the man and three women who were seen to have an verbal altercation with the suspect, as we believe they may be key witnesses who can further our inquiries.

"We are still following a positive line of inquiry, nevertheless we are still keen to speak to members of the public who have information or were in the area at the time.

"Anyone who believes they have information that can assist our investigation is asked to get in touch."
