Forth News Helps Give Midlothian Mum Wheels In Memory Of Beloved Son

Published 28th Jan 2016

We told you last week about Midlothian mum Donna Nelson who was taking on a cycle challenge after her son’s death.

Sadly Chris' body was discovered in a canal in Amsterdam at the start of last month and the family are still coming to terms with their loss.

In order to focus, his mum Donna has been training for the 200 mile Celtic cycle challenge but there was just one problem; she didn't have a bike.

Luckily though, James Shade from Ozone Action Sports decided to donate her one.

He said; “I heard the story on the radio, I think everyone in Edinburgh did. It’s a story that’s touched so many people and after I heard Chris’ sister Abby was at the same school as my daughter, I just had to get involved. We’ve now given her a hybrid bike which will do the job.”

Donna will be taking part in a 200-mile cycle ride organised by St Columba's Hospice in Edinburgh which ends in Iona which has a special place in her heart.

You can listen to Donna's latest interview with our reporter Shiona McCallum below and you can visit her just giving page here too.
