The first koala to be born in the UK dies at Edinburgh Zoo
Edinburgh Zoo have said he will be "greatly missed by all".
The first koala to be born in the UK has died at Edinburgh Zoo.
The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland said three-year-old Yooranah died on Tuesday night (21 June).
Keepers at the zoo say it comes after he suffered a "prolonged period of illness".
Darren McGarry, Head of Living Collections at Edinburgh Zoo, said: "We would like to reassure all the people that had taken Yooranah to their hearts over the past three years that nothing more could have been done for this much loved koala. He received the very best medical care and animal husbandry. Yooranah will be greatly missed by all."
Yooranad was born in May of 2013, to his mother Alinga and father Goonaroo, both of which stay at Edinburgh Zoo.
The zoo's Koala Territory will be open to the public as normal today.
