Fife teens seriously injured in "unprovoked" attack by masked gang
Police are appealing for information after four teenagers were seriously assaulted by a large group in Kinghorn, Fife.
The incident happened around 8.20pm on Thursday night, when the victims were walking along Pettycur Road. They were approached and attacked by a gang of 20 to 30 masked youths, all believed to be aged between 15 and 17.
The four victims were taken to Victoria Hospital with serious injuries. They’ve since been discharged but will need ongoing treatment.
Detective Inspector Samantha Davidson from Glenrothes CID described it as an “unprovoked attack” and warned the consequences could have been tragic.
She said: “These young men were outnumbered and subjected to a shocking level of violence. Even if you didn’t physically assault someone, being there and encouraging it could make you criminally responsible.”
Police are urging parents to ask if their children were involved and are appealing for witnesses, dashcam or private CCTV footage that could help with the investigation.
Increased patrols are now in place in the area.
