A group of Fife students have been forced to take a coach home from Barcelona after Ryanair cancelled a number of flights.

The 20 S2 and S3 pupils from Inverkeithing High School have been on a school trip but their flight home to Edinburgh Airport was cancelled yesterday by the airline.

A statement from Ryanair says: "Due to an unjustified French ATC strike, we regret we have been forced to cancel a number of flights on Tuesday. All affected customers have been contacted by email and text message and advised of their options: a full refund, rebooking on to the next available flight or transferring to an alternative flight."

The group are now taking a bus to Calais where they will catch a ferry to Dover. A coach will them drive them from Dover to Inverkeithing, where they are expected to arrive on Thursday night.

Despite the disruption Inverkeithing High School Headteacher Ian Adair has said the pupils are "in good spirits"
