A Fife hairdresser is to offer free haircuts for underprivileged kids heading back to school in the region.

Craig Boyd, the owner of Craig Boyd Hairdressing, will open up his salon next Monday (August 13) between 11am-3pm to support those in need.

He will cut the hair of children living in poverty before they head back to classes in a matter of days.

Families in need will be able to get the haircuts by receiving a voucher from the Levenmouth foodbank.

The hairdresser has also organised a collection of second-hand uniforms, stationary and school bags in order to make sure every child is also suitably equipped for the new term year.

Craid Boyd said: "We're all one paycheck away from using a foodbank, we never know when it could hit our families. I've been a low-income parent, my parents had to use welfare to get my school uniforms. I've been there and now I just want to be able to give back.

"For some of us a haircut is an everyday thing, but for alot of people it is a treat that they have to save for. It's not something many can get regularly cause they just don't have the cash for it."
