Man dies after being struck by a car on the A1 near Dunbar.

Police say it happened around 1am this morning.

Police in East Lothian are appealing for information following a fatal road collision overnight on the A1 dual carriageway near Dunbar, East Lothian.

Around 1am on Sunday, 13 March, 2022, a 40-year-old man was struck by a black coloured Ford Fiesta.

Emergency services attended, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta was uninjured and contacted police from the scene.

The road was closed for around five hours to allow collision investigation to be completed.

Sergeant Jennifer Forbes, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died and we are continuing our enquiries to find out the full circumstances of what happened.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area and saw what happened to get in touch.

"We would also like to hear from you if you were driving in the area and have dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0269 of Sunday, 13 March, 2022.
