Family tribute to man murdered in Kirkcaldy street

The family of a man murdered in Kirkcaldy has said he was a much loved son, brother and father''.

Darren Adie, 42, was found lying unconscious in the town's Tweed Avenue, near the Lawson Street junction, at around 6.45pm on Saturday.

He was taken to the town's Victoria Hospital, where he later died.

His family paid tribute to him in a statement issued through police, saying: Darren was a much loved son, brother and father who will be sorely missed.''

His relatives said they were grateful for the support of our friends and family''.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Detectives have found that there were people in Tweed Avenue and on other streets in the Gallatown area around the time of Mr Adie's death and urge them to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Raymond Brown said: I want to thank the community for their cooperation and assistance so far.

Darren was well known in the Gallatown area and I'm keen to speak to anyone who may have seen him on Saturday in the hours before he died.

I would also ask anyone who was in the Gallatown area on Saturday and who may have seen something unusual or anyone acting suspiciously to please get in touch with us.''

Police Scotland initially classed his death as suspicious'', but later confirmed they were treating it as murder following the results of a post-mortem examination.
