The family of Maybury Road crash victim Jonny Smith have spoken of their shock, after a memorial to him was damaged by fire.

Relatives of the 29-year-old, who died in the crash in May, were told about the blaze by emergency services at the weekend.

Tributes which have been left at the site of the collision appear to have been set alight.

The driver of the Audi which caused the crash has never been found.

Speaking to Forth News, Jonny's brother Callum said: "We received a call in the morning, got up pretty fast to see it, and we were just in shock.

"You just wouldn't expect someone to do something like that, especially being where it is.

"People set fires, but not to somebody's memorial.

"The first thing I saw was the tin of lighter fluid and that just made it worse.

"There's a chance it wasn't deliberate, but when you see a tin of lighter fluid next to a fire, that just says it all."
