Pedestrian in 'critical condition' after being hit by SUV in Falkirk

The A803 was closed for more than eight hours, with a 51-year-old being taken to hospital.

A pedestrian is in 'critical condition' after being struck by a car on Saturday evening.

Police are appealing for information after the incident which occurred around 10:10pm on Saturday 10 April.

The 51-year-old man was hit by a silver Hyundai Santa Fe travelling towards Larbert, on the A803 Falkirk Road near Bonnybridge.

He was then taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition is described as ‘critical’.

After the collision, the road was shut for just over eight hours to allow police enquiries to be carried out.

Police say the driver of the car remains uninjured.

Constable Neil Mealey said: "A man has sustained serious injuries as a result of this crash and we are appealing for information to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"Enquiries are ongoing and we're appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who was in that area with a dash-cam fitted to their vehicle to contact us."
