Facebook page allegedly selling counterfeit goods shut down in Fife

A Fife-based Facebook group alleged to have been selling counterfeit goods has been shut down.

The local Trading Standards team, working with the social media giant, has become the first in Scotland to take the step against a social media group.

They say it was selling fake clothing, cosmetics and electrical goods - some of which they claim were potentially dangerous.

The team took action after receiving a number of complaints from members of the public.

Lead Officer Dawn Adamson said: "Trading Standards continues to work with partners to disrupt the sale of conterfeit goods online.

"The ability to have infringing Facebook pages or content removed is another string to our bow.

"I would urge consumers who have concerns about suspected counterfeit products to report it to Trading Standards."
