We've brought together two families - one from the East and one from the West - who are fighting for more support for the loved ones of victims.
Kevin Woodburn lost his son Shaun during the early hours of New Year's Day 2017.
He was fatally attacked outside a pub in Leith while celebrating Hogmanay and his killer was jailed for four years.
Lynne Burns' son Sam Johnston was stabbed to death at a party in Saltcoats in 2013.
Stewart McCulloch was sentenced to 13 years in jail for killing him and Allan Carey was given three years after being found guilty of culpable homicide.
Both now campaign for more support for the families of victims are struggling to navigate the justice system after tragedy struck their lives.
In an exclusive interview both have come together to discuss their loss and the difficulty of finding justice in today's Scotland.
