EXCLUSIVE: Teachers to meet with John Swinney after viral letter
Forth News can exclusively reveal a group of teachers will later today meet with the Education Secretary John Swinney to share their fears about the education system.
It comes after we revealed an anonymous letter by a Scottish teacher which detailed concerns about the profession and a fear of speaking out.
It went viral and caused a politcal stir, even being raised in FMQ's at Holyrood.
Since then numerous teachers have sent their own similar letters to the Education Secretary, with many also sharing them with the Forth newsroom.
We now know 10 of those who have written in have been invited to Holyrood to meet with John Swinney on Wednesday evening.
Larry Flannagan, General Secretary of union EIS, says: "The more they understand the pressures that teachers are facing, the low morale that is in place across the country, perhaps the more they'll be moved to actually respond to issues such as pay or excessive work loads - all issues that have been there for a long time now.
"It can only be a good thing if the Deputy First Minister is hearing directly from teachers about some of the real pressures they are under."
