EXCLUSIVE: Mum of 10-year-old seriously injured in motorbike hit-and-run recalls terrifying ordeal
Two men have admitted their part in the crash on Ferry Road.
The mum of a 10-year-old boy seriously injured in a motorbike hit-and-run in north Edinburgh in August is speaking exclusively to Forth News.
It comes after Connor Whalen, 20, and Marc Miller, 20, pleaded guilty to their part in the accident at a pedestrian crossing close on Ferry Road.
They are due to be sentenced next month.
The boy was left fighting for his life in Edinburgh's Sick Kids Hospital. He has now returned home and is continuing to recover.
But his mum, who can't be named for legal reasons, says the whole family is struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
She told Forth News: "I've never been so scared in my life. The fear and the worry, I've never felt anything like that.
"Some days I feel angry and some days I feel really emotional and upset. Everything is still a rollercoaster, I still struggle sometimes. It's not good for any parent to see your child lying like that.
"I had sent him over to the shop and I was watching him from the window.
"I saw him push the button for the green man, and I turned around to pick up my other son for three seconds and then my daughter screamed.
"I just grabbed my wee boy and I ran over. It still feels like a daze, everything was so chaotic.
"The whole time I was just looking thinking is this really happening?
"He had two broken collar bones, he's right elbow and right wrist was broken, his femur snapped in two and he had bruising on his liver, lungs and kidney. His kidney was also torn.
He's healing nicely on his upper body but his legs still have a long way to go. He's obviously got a lot of scarring, but over time that will fade.
"Everybody worries about stuff like that, but you never think it's going to happen to mine. Well, I thought it would never be mine."
