The average price of a family home in leafy parts of west Edinburgh has rocketed by more than a third in just a year.

The latest figures from the ESPC suggest the cost of three-bedroom house in the upmarket Cramond, Barnton and Cammo areas soared by 36.2% to £488,375.

But the figure, which looks at sales over the last three months, may have been pushed up by a small number of very expensive properties being sold.

The area is also in line for major development with hundreds of new homes set to be built next to Maybury Road.

Across Edinburgh, the average selling price was £265,748 which was a 1.8% increase compared to last year.

Properties in the north and north-west of the city saw annual growth of 9.9% and 10.2% respectively.

The average property selling price in West Fife and Kinross decreased by 4.1% and by 1.9% in East Fife.

Properties in Dunfermline saw a 5.5% decrease in average selling price.

Three bedroom houses in South Queensferry and Dalmeny boasted the fastest selling time at 14 days, which was 28 days slower than the same period last year.
