Elderly man taken to hospital after being attacked by dog walker near Leith Links
An elderly man was seriously injured after being attacked by a dog walker.
The 70-year-old had been on Wellington Place, near Leith Links, at 2.50pm on Tuesday, November 21 when he was assaulted.
He suffered a serious facial injury following an altercation with a man who was walking a Rottweiler-type'' dog along Duncan Place and into Wellington Place.
Detective Constable Alastair Paisley, of Gayfield CID, said: This was a senseless and vicious attack resulting in serious injuries for the victim.
We are keen to trace the man walking a Rottweiler-type breed of dog who was seen to run off in the direction of Duke Street following the attack.
The area was busy with other pedestrians and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault, or knows who is responsible, to contact police immediately.''
The injured man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and released following treatment.
The suspect is described as a white male, aged around 20 years old, stocky build, with mid-length light brown hair.
He was wearing a dark-coloured sweater, dark jogging bottoms and spoke with a local accent
