Edinburgh University has provided £2m more for bursaries for undergraduates from disadvantaged backgrounds.

A total of £8.5m will be made available, the largest amount to date.

The University has carried out research that showed bursaries made 92% of students carry on with their studies after first year.

It comes after the University faced criticism for a lack of diversity amongst its student population.
