Edinburgh scientists detect North Korea's nuclear test
Seismologists in Edinburgh say they detected North Korea's latest nuclear weapons test.
The country's fifth and seemingly largest nuclear explosion caused a 5.3 magnitude tremor and has triggered condemnation from leaders around the world.
David Galloway from the British Geological Survey, which has sensitive monitoring equipment in Edinburgh, told Forth News, "All our networks trigger on big earthquakes around the world or smaller earthquakes in the UK.
"At around 00.39am today, we have signal - and the location has been located in and around North Korea.
"Our equipment is much more sensitive than people and any time the ground moves it will be picked up".
