The Edinburgh Science Festival will return in-person this summer, at more than 25 venues.

It will take place from Saturday, 26 June to Sunday, 11 July, and will focus on the efforts to tackle Covid-19, the climate crisis, and women working in STEM.

The festival will include 220 events, tours, workshops and interactive experiences, and more than 80% of them will be free.

A sound and light installation will be set up at St Andrews Square Garden, while there will be an outdoor exhibition about marine science at the Our Dynamic Earth attraction.

A digital programme is also available for fans to take part from around the world.

Special guests will include public health expert Professor Linda Bauld from Edinburgh University, and Yvette Hopkins, head of the Shetland Space Centre.

Festival director Amanda Tyndall said: “It is an understatement to say that it has been an exceptional year, a year that has shown us just how intimately interconnected our world is.

“We share one world and need to innovate and collaborate to tackle global challenges and embrace the opportunities ahead.

"In a spirit of optimism, resilience and hope – our 2021 festival explores new ideas and formats that ensure audiences can safely get their science fix this summer.”
