Police release images after serious assault in Edinburgh's Southside

Police in Edinburgh have released images of a man they believe could assist with an investigation into a serious assault in the Southside of the city.

The incident happened on Clerk Street at around 10.45pm on Tuesday 12 August.

The man officers are keen to trace is described as white, aged between 30 and 40, of slim build. He was wearing a white collared t-shirt and carrying a black Fox Racing rucksack.

Detective Sergeant Mark Richmond said: "We would encourage this man, anyone who may recognise him, or anyone with information about this incident to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4130 of 12 August 2025. Details can also be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
