Edinburgh police appeal after late-night assault on Queensferry Street

Police are appealing for information following a serious assault on Queensferry Street, Edinburgh.

The incident occurred around 11.40pm on Tuesday at the junction with Melville Street.

A 39-year-old man was seriously assaulted and taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

Officers are seeking two suspects described as white males.

The first is around 5ft 10in, medium build, with a bald head and wearing dark clothing.

The second is also around 5ft 10in, medium build, with short dark hair and possibly wearing a red t-shirt.

Both are believed to have left the scene heading towards Randolph Place.

Detective Constable Gary Lipscombe said: "Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone with any information to contact us. We understand the area was busy at the time and would ask anyone who witnessed the incident and hasn’t spoken to police to get in touch. Anyone with dash cam or private CCTV footage is also asked to come forward."
