Tickets for Edinburgh's world famous Hogmanay street party go on sale from today, with organisers saying there is already huge interest'' in the event.

Tens of thousands of revellers from all over the globe travel to Scotland's capital to bring in the new year, with last year's giant bash attracting 75,000 people.

The New Year's Eve street party is the centrepiece of three days of events in Edinburgh, which boosted the city's economy by £41.8 million last year.

Organisers promise an enhanced experience to welcome in 2016, including additional entertainment and increased arena space for crowds.

Full details of the bands and other live artists that will be performing will not be revealed until October, but Pete Irvine, of organisers Unique Events and Festival Director of Edinburgh's Hogmanay, said: We are already experiencing a huge interest from around the world for tickets to the street party.

Following last year's sell-out event we have added extra screens and an additional stage with more space for revellers to enjoy the best party on the planet.''

Councillor Richard Lewis, the festivals and events champion at the City of Edinburgh Council, said the capital has a global reputation as being the place in which to celebrate Hogmanay''.

He added: With additional stages and screens planned for this year's Street Party, it promises to be bigger and better than ever.''

Paul Bush, director of events at VisitScotland, said Edinburgh's Hogmanay is an ambassador for Scotland, showcasing Edinburgh as the home of Hogmanay all round the world.

With visitors from over 70 countries, Hogmanay promotes Scotland as an all-year-round visitor destination and the perfect stage for events.''
