Police in Edinburgh say they pulled over a vehicle after spotting a toddler standing up between the two front seats, issuing the driver a £100 fine.

The law states that children must be strapped in to a kids car seat until they reach 135cm or their 12th birthday, whichever comes first.

You can face a fine of up to £500 if a child is not in the correct car seat or wearing a seatbelt whilst you’re driving.

In a post on social media, officers said the red Toyota Yaris - which had a "P" plate, indicating a recently qualified driver - had a "baby on board sign".
