One of two Edinburgh Bathstore branches has been saved after Homebase reached an agreement with administrators to buy-out the bathroom retailer.

Under the agreement, Homebase has taken over 44 stores, intellectual property and all remaining stock. The sale has secured the jobs of the 154 employees at these stores.

The Edinburgh Morningside branch was one of just three Scottish stores on the list whilst the Edinburgh Central branch was not included.

Sites in Glasgow and Stirling are also being taken over and will remain open.

The remaining stores that are not being transferred to Homebase as part of the sale will continue to trade for a number of weeks while remaining display stock is sold off.

Administrator and BDO business restructuring partner Ryan Grant, said: “In a difficult situation, we have been able to secure the future of the Bathstore brand and the transfer of 44 stores to Homebase to maximise realisations for creditors and protect as many jobs as possible.”

The company announced it had appointed administrators on 26 June 2019 which put 531 jobs across it's 135 branches at risk.
