Edinburgh Airport Bosses Call For Gatwick Expansion Over Third Runway At Heathrow

Bosses at Edinburgh Airport say they're disappointed by a recommendation to build a third runway at Heathrow.

The Airports Commission, which was set up by the Government, says the expansion could help secure Britain's 'long term prosperity'.

The final decision lies with Westminster.

But a spokeman for Edinburgh Airport said further development at Gatwick would be a better move.

He told Forth News, “We’re disappointed with today’s announcement.

"We’ve been clear in our argument that expansion at Heathrow is not deliverable and as a result there can be no increased capacity in the south east.

"Long-haul flights can’t fly from a runway that won’t be built. “Gatwick is the more deliverable option for Scottish passengers and we’re urging the government to make a quick decision on this.”
