Edinburgh Airport bosses hail record-breaking year
It's been the busiest twelve months for any Scottish airport
The number of travellers flying though Scotland’s busiest airport went up last year.
The transport hub saw almost 15 million people through its gates in the last 12 months - the busiest year for any Scottish airport.
International passenger numbers rose 5.3% on 2918 - although domestic passenger numbers were down 0.7%.
The international market was boosted by several new routes, including Budapest, Bucharest and Verona.
Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport Gordon Dewar said the hub was “delighted to deliver a record year for any Scottish airport.”
He said: “We appreciate that we need to show leadership in this area and we are currently finalising a strategy which will map out our approach to operations at Edinburgh to make them even more sustainable than they already are.”
Dewar would also like to thank “all the staff across campus who worked hard to make it a successful year."
