Dunfermline man, 59, jailed after more than 20 years of sexually abusing women and children
One of Derek Lamond's victims was just four-years-old
A 59-year-old man from Dunfermline has been jailed for 12 years after more than 20 years of sexually abusing women and children.
Derek Lamond began the decades long campaign of abuse, when his first victim was just four-years-old, back in the mid nineties.
A jury at the High Court in Edinburgh heard how he plied his victims with alcohol and cigarettes, subjecting them to horrific sexual attacks spanning years.
Passing down the sentence, with a minimum of 12 years behind bars, Lord Renucci said Derek Lamond had shown “no remorse” for his crimes, which he said had had “considerable and enduring impact on his victims long into adulthood.
Lamond's name has been added to the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Aileen Fyfe, the mother of one of the victims, spoke outside court and said: "He (Lamond) targeted the victims after their dad's passed away - he did the same with my niece, her dad passed away. I wouldn't eve say justice has been done because it's not long enough for him. I hope he rots in hell".
Scotland’s Procurator Fiscal for High Court Sexual Offending, Katrina Parkes said: “Derek Lamond manipulated and exploited these young children in an abhorrent campaign of abuse.
“His victims have shown great courage and strength by coming forward and reporting him to the authorities.
“Lamond will now have to face the consequences of his actions following this prosecution and conviction.
“I would encourage all victims of similar offending – no matter how long ago it may have occurred – to come forward, report it and seek help.
“Scotland’s prosecution service is committed to securing justice for victims of child sexual abuse.”
Detective Constable Emma Moyes said: “Derek Lamond will now face the consequences of his appalling and predatory behaviour. We thank the victims in this case for coming forward and their determination throughout the investigation.
“Police Scotland are committed to investigating abuse whether that be sexual or physical regardless of when these crimes were committed, and we will continue to work closely with our partner agencies to ensure that offenders are brought to justice.”
