Driver dies after lorry crashes into bollard on A71
A lorry driver has died after crashing off a road and into a bollard.
The accident happened on the A71 near to the Wilderness roundabout in Livingston, West Lothian, at about 10am on Monday.
Emergency services were called to the scene and found the 60-year-old driver unconscious.
He was treated at the scene and then taken to St John's Hospital in the town but died a short time later, police said.
Officers are investigating the circumstances of the crash and have appealed for any witnesses who saw the heavy goods vehicle near the roundabout.
Sergeant Gary Taylor said: This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the death of a man.
We are eager to establish the full circumstances of this collision and wish to speak to any witnesses who may have been in the local area.
I would urge anyone who was near to the Wilderness roundabout around 10am on Monday and saw anything, to get in touch with us as soon as possible.''
