Doorway attack in Edinburgh treated as attempted murder
Police appeal for witnesses after 55-year-old man seriously assaulted
DETECTIVES have launched an attempted murder probe after a man was left with serious injuries after being attacked in the doorway of his Edinburgh home.
The assault happened around 1.45am yesterday, on Ravenscroft Street in Gilmoreton. The 55-year -old was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment, where he remains in a stable condition.
Police are appealing for witnesses. Detective Sergeant Steven Gray of Gayfield CID said: “Extensive enquiries are ongoing into the attempted murder and officers are currently carrying out enquiries in the local area and checking CCTV footage to gather more information.
“I would urge anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious to contact us as soon as possible.
“This is believed to have been an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the general public.”
