Donations have started to flood in for the family of a young nurse killed after she was hit by a car being chased by Police in Edinburgh.

33-year-old Jill Pirrie was walking home from a shift at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, along Old Dalkeith Road, when she was struck by a vehicle.

At the time, that car was being pursued by officers, after it failed to stop.

Four males have been detained in connection to the incident.

Jill's family have paid tribute to her, saying: "Jill was loved by everyone who knew her, but most especially by her close family.

“We will miss her more than words can express. She was the kindest person on earth.

“She was simply a wonderful person and will always be in our hearts."

Now a fundraising page has been set up to support Jill's husband and young son. So far it has raised over ÂŁ6,000.
