The discovery of a man's body in a flat is being treated as suspicious.

Police were called to the property in Scotland Street in Edinburgh's New Town at around 5.30am on Friday.

Officers have launched an investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: Police in Edinburgh are investigating following the discovery of a man's body at an address in Scotland Street.

The incident was reported to police around 5.30am this morning, Friday December 2.

The death is currently being treated as suspicious.
