A specialist bike handmade for a disabled boy in Cupar has been stolen from a local charity.
Castle Furniture Project posted on their Facebook page on Wednesday after the tricycle was taken from outside their shop.
It was due to be the first bike blind, autistic 14-year-old Joe had ever had and cost over £1000.
The post reads: "We hope you can help. Today a specialist handmade trike was stolen from our forecourt at Cupar.
"The trike was specially made for disabled/blind children, and we had informed a blind local boy he was getting his first bike. Unfortunately someone made off with it this afternoon.
"Police have been informed but we'd love to see this item returned as it is so specialist we can't replace it with another one.
"The little boy is devastated. Please help make it too hot to handle and see its return."
The post has been shared over 1700 times by concerned locals.
A message from the boy's family was also posted on the Facebook page:
"Joe is going to be 15 in August. He was born with unilateral micropthalmia and unilateral anopthalmia which basically means his eyes did not develop properly and he has one very small eye and the other eye is missing.
"He has been registered blind since birth and has no vision at all. He was also diagnosed with autism last year and struggles with his weight as he can't run around and play in the same way sighted children can.
"He does not go out to play with friends and was very much looking forward to being able to go out on his very own bike, as he put it, "like normal children". We also hoped the exercise would help with his weight. "
