Man charged after Digger set alight in Edinburgh

UPDATE: A man has now been charged in connection with a digger being set ablaze in an Edinburgh suburb

Police have now charged a man in connection with wilful fire raising in an Edinburgh suburb in the early hours of Tuesday morning (February 8th).

The construction equipment was set ablaze on Silverknowes Road between 3am and 4am on Tuesday morning (February 8th).

The fire and rescue service attended the incident to extinguish the fire and there were no injuries.

Now a 32-year-old man have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

The man will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

Yesterday Detective Sergeant Alan Sharp, of Costorphine CID, said: “Thankfully no-one was injured as a result of this deliberate fire.

“We are grateful to everyone who assisted with our investigation into this incident.”
