UPDATE: ScotRail say the issue has now been resolved - services are no longer affected.

Trains in and out of Edinburgh have faced delays this morning (October 18) due to a signal fault at the Haymarket Depot.

Scotrail say they're investigating the issue which means "We're currently unable to get any trains out of this depot at present" according to the operators Twitter account.

In an update at 8am ScotRail said:

"Repairs are continuing at the Depot. Please note services are still able to travel via Haymarket station but some services out of Edinburgh Waverley are affected. Check your journey on our app or website to make sure your service is running."

Services are still able to travel via Haymarket but some trains leaving out of Waverley have been affected too.

Some tickets will be valid on Stagecoach buses in an effort to keep rush hour commuters moving.

Travellers are urged to check the app for updates.
