Extra trains added by ScotRail for Coldplay's Hampden dates
ScotRail are adding additional services and extra carriages as thousands flock to Hampden Park on Tuesday and Wednesday.
As thousands flock to the southside of Glasgow next week for Coldplay’s return to Scotland, additional trains are being put on to help travelling fans get to and from the concert.
ScotRail will be running additional services and extra carriages between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida on both Tuesday 23, and Wednesday 24 August, 2022.
While Hampden Park plays host to Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Sphere’s World Tour on both days, fans are being advised to get to the area as early as possible, and to return to the Mount Florida station as soon as the concert ends.
The Rail operator has warned that there will be extensive queuing systems in place at Glasgow Centrl and Mount Florida station before and after the concert.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said: “We’re looking forward to helping music lovers travel by train to see Coldplay perform at our national stadium.
“To help the event run smoothly, we’re adding extra carriages to key trains as well as more trains to and from Hampden.
“Our advice to customers is to leave extra time for travel as trains are likely to be busier than normal. Buying tickets in advance through our mTickets system will reduce your queuing time.”
Concertgoers should access the Mount Florida station as quickly as possible by Bolton Drive, ScotRail say as there will be no access from Battlefield Drive.
Regular commuters in the area who use Neilston Services are also being warned that trains will be significantly busier on both the days at all times, so they should plan ahead.
A ScotRail Spokesperson added: “To reduce the need to queue on the day, customers are encouraged to buy their ticket in advance via the mTicket system on the ScotRail app.
“Buying tickets through the mTickets system means people can buy their tickets from the comfort of their home or on the way to the station and it will instantly become available on their mobile device.”
“Extra staff will be on hand to assist customers, and ScotRail is reminding everyone that the carrying and consumption of alcohol is prohibited on ScotRail trains and in ScotRail stations.”
