More than 1,000 people will have a chilly start to 2017 by plunging into the River Forth in the annual Loony Dook.

The sell-out event takes place at South Queensferry and starts with a parade along the town's High Street before the entrants brave the icy waters at around 1pm.
A New Year's Day tradition for more three decades, this year around 1,100 people have signed up and are expected to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity by taking a bracing dip in the shadow of the Forth Bridges.
Entrants are encourage to dress up and a prize is on offer for the best costume.
Porridge firm Stoats sponsors the dook and will be handing out fresh porridge to those taking part to heat them up, with help on hand to beat hangovers as well as last year's favourite flavour of hot toddy porridge with honey and whisky.
A spokeswoman for the event said: We're very much looking forward to the Stoats Loony Dook when over 1,000 brave souls will take to the water in their crazy, weird and wonderful fancy dress raising thousands of pounds for charity and in the support, particularly of the RNLI at South Queensferry.''
Part of the entrance fee goes towards South Queensferry RNLI while many entrants also raise money for other charities.
