Celtic are in contact with UEFA for Ange Postecoglou to be granted an exemption to be able to manage in Europe.

The Australian boss - currently in charge of Yokohama F Marinos - does not hold a UEFA Pro Licence.

The Parkhead side are able to apply for a "recognition of competence procedure" to allow him to take charge.

However, the governing body says the process for approval could take several weeks.

Celtic are understood to be confident Postecoglou will be given an exemption by UEFA given his 25 years of coaching experience in Australia and Asia.

A UEFA spokesperson said: "Mr Postecoglou does not currently hold the UEFA Pro Licence.

"A recognition of competence procedure has been initiated. The process could take several weeks. We don't have any further information to provide at this stage."
