Car that drove through Glenrothes living room leaves man seriously injured

The 67 year-old was rushed to Ninewells Hospital

A car that crashed into the living room of a house in Glenrothes has left a 67 year-old man seriously injured.

The white Vauxhall Corsa hit the property on Woodside Way around 7:50pm last night.

Emergency services rushed the man to Dundee’s Ninewells Hospital where staff describe his condition as stable.

The 18 year-old female passenger of the car was also hospitalised but has since been discharged.

Meanwhile, police have arrested and charged the 18 year-old male driver with alleged road traffic offences.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said:

“Around 7.50 pm on Friday, 21 July 2023, a white Vauxhall Corsa crashed in to the livingroom of a house on Woodside Way near Woodside Road, Glenrothes.

“The 67-year-old male occupant of the house was seriously injured and was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where medical staff describe his condition as stable. A 67-year-old woman from the house was uninjured.

“The 18-year-old female passenger of the car was taken by ambulance to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy where she was treated and has since been discharged.

“The 18-year-old male driver of the car was not injured. He has been arrested and charged with alleged road traffic offences. He has been released on an Undertaking to appear at court at a later date. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Officers remain at the scene. The road is open.”
