An Edinburgh couple are calling for better mental health support for parents at Edinburgh's Simpson's maternity unit.

Amy and Robin Keene had twins Rosie and Aiden 16 weeks early but sadly lost their son Aiden hours after his birth.

Through what was a traumatic pregnancy and a heartbreaking loss both felt like despite amazing work by the nurses there wasn't enough in place to support both of their mental health.

"I had just had an emergency C-section, you're brought round and you're told you've had two babies but one isn't doing very well. The one that isn't doing very well, you're going to have to say bye. You're there and you need to find the words to say bye to your son. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

"The enviroment itself, there's alot of beeping, there are other very ill babies, it's very warm cause it needs to be for the babies, I was on morphine. You're sitting there and sometimes my vision was so blurred I couldn't focus on Rosie.

"There isn't really much at all in place for women and families that are going through that. There's so much trauma, it's not just the fact you've given birth to two 24 week babies, it's the pregnancy and the whole build-up to that."

The couple are now hosting a fundraiser to raise funds for the maternity unit. It will be held at Malone's on the city's Morrison Street on October 18. You can buy tickets or donate here: https://www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Edinburgh/Malones-/Casino-Fundraiser-Simpsons-Special-Care-Baby-Unit/13303931/
