Businesses in Edinburgh hoping to benefit from Fast & Furious 9
Filming for the franchise is taking place throughout September in the city
Filming for Fast & Furious 9 is entering its fifth day of production in the city centre of Edinburgh.
Waterloo Place is currently closed off as filming takes place there until September 12th.
That's just one of 52 road closures which are planned throughout the month while the film crew shoots the high-octane action scenes for the franchise which stars Vin Diesel.
Whilst the presence of the franchise is expected to increase congestion, Bobby Leung, who runs Waterloo Bar on the street says there are pros and cons for businesses with the filming taking place. He said:
"I would say both sides are effected because the road is closed and the businesses are open"
"It's kind of an inconvenience for us for example, our deliveries and it may be affecting our customers access to the premises."
Mr Leung continued:
"I don't know how much its going to effect us but because it is such a big project, Fast and Furious 9, definitely it will show the rest of the world about Edinburgh and about Waterloo Place, and maybe show the premises."
He is hoping that the benefits won't just been seen in the long term through tourism, but also that interested locals and visitors will drop by to see the set and improve business.
"It's right after the festival time, it's kind of a low season in Edinburgh but such a big project it might attract some more people coming to the movie set."
