The driver of the Stagecoach bus escaped unhurt
A driver in Fife had a narrow escape on Saturday after the bus he was in caught fire.
The Stagecoach vehicle erupted into flames in Carnegie Drive in Dunfermline because it developed a technical fault.
It happened around 7.20am, no passengers were on board and the driver escaped unhurt.
Firefighters tackled the huge blaze and Stagecoach have launched an investigation.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.20am, officers were called to the Carnegie Drive area of Dunfermline to assist Scottish Fire and Rescue Service following a report of a bus on fire.
"There were no injuries and the road was clear by around 10.45am. There is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”
A spokesperson for Stagecoach East Scotland said: “The bus developed a technical fault during its journey. There were no passengers on board the bus at the time.
“The driver safely exited the vehicle and the emergency services were called. Safety is our absolute priority and an investigation is underway into the cause of the incident.”
