After two weeks on the loose, a missing buffalo has returned to his farm in Fife.

'Bert' as he's known, escaped from Torbain farm near Kirkcaldy while being weighed and has been hiding out in Cardenden Woods in the Kingdom for the last fortnight.

His owner, Steve Mitchell went to great lengths to get him back - even offering free Christmas dinner to anyone with information on where the 800lb animal could be.

He also released a cow and her calf into the woods, to try and lure him back home.

The saga even caught the attention of the UK Civil Air Patrol- a charity which usually helps in missing persons cases - with pilots taking to the skies to find Bert.

After all that though, the young animal returned home all by himself - just in time for Christmas.

There are now plans to write a children's book based on his adventures.
