#BreakTheCycle - Police figures show huge drop in motorbike crime
Figures from police have today confirmed a huge drop in the number of motorbike crimes across the city, thanks to our #BreakTheCycle campaign.
The statistics show a 54% reduction in the number of motorbike disorder cases reported to police from the same time last year. That means there were 346 less incidents.
There has also been a 60% reduction in the number of motorbike thefts in the area.
It comes after the death of 14-year-old Brad Williamson in 2016, who died while joyriding a stolen motorbike in north Edinburgh. Last summer a 10-year-old boy was also seriously injured in a motorbike hit-and-run.
Police have stepped up there resources in the last 12 months, introducing DNA tagging spray, off-road motorcycles and extra officers.
